Moors and Christians Festivities 2025: “Procession of the Relic”

Transfer of the Relic of Saint George from his temple to the Parish of Santa María.

SCHEDULE AND ROUTE: It begins at 11:00 a.m. at the temple of Saint George and continues through the streets of Sant Tomàs, l’Escola, Mossèn Torregrosa, Sant Llorenç, Plaça d’Espanya, and Pintor Casanova (Main Street) to the Parish of Santa María, ending around 12:00 p.m.

ORDER: Heralds, Moorish Captain (Filà Abencerrajes), Moorish Sergeant and entourage, banners of the Moorish filaes, Moorish Lieutenant (Filà Marrakesch), Moorish Ambassador, Standard Bearer and entourage, Christian Captain (Filà Aragoneses), Christian Sergeant and entourage, banners of the Christian filaes, Christian Lieutenant (Filà Andaluces), Christian Ambassador, Mossèn Torregrosa, Standard Bearer and entourage, General Assembly of the Saint George Association with banner and Sant Jordiet, Relic, Reverend Clergy and Authorities.

Afterwards, a solemn High Mass will be celebrated, featuring the “Missa a Sant Jordi” by Amando Blanquer Ponsoda, performed by the Alcoi Symphonic Orchestra, the Alcoi Polyphonic Choir, the Cantores de Alcoy Group, Agrupación Lírica El Trabajo, and the Divertimento Choir of Alcoi.

At 2:00 p.m., “mascletà” at Plaça d’Espanya.
